This is my fiance

It has been a very very long time since I have made a new post but I thought that my engagement was worthy of an update!

Most of you don't know my fiance Scott so let me tell you about him....

He makes me extremely happy first of all....

He bought me this amazing ring that he picked out all by himself

He has this smile on his face almost every minute of the day, making everyone around him just as happy. I can honestly say Scotty is the kindest person I know, he will do anything for anyone...

He is obsessed with the ocean and starts to go crazy if he has not surfed in a few days. He is pretty good too, mostly because he isn't scared of anything and goes after waves everyone else is afraid of.

He grew up in San Diego, he swears its the best place on earth, next to his second home here in Hawaii.

We both graduate this December, with my degree in International Cultural Studies and his in International Business. Will we use those degrees in our future careers? Probably not but we both have a dream of starting our own non-profit organization. Until then it will be an adventure figuring out what we are going to do.

I did not think I would be getting married right now, but Scott changed all my plans. Although planning the wedding is sometimes stressful, I am beyond excited to start our new life together.

Another trip!

So my best friend is getting married in Idaho next week. She was not planning on getting married until December and in a last minute change of plans they decided they just could not wait. So I am getting ready to get back on a plane for what feels like the 100th time this year. Chelsea has found an amazing guy who could not be better for her and I am so happy for them both. I am still getting used to the idea of her actually being married, I thought we were going to have one last semester to play and live together. I am loosing one of the best roommates I have ever had! But I am glad she is starting a new chapter in her life and I can't wait for the wedding!

Pizza pizza!

So Seattle has been good to me when it comes to food. Nothing gets me more excited than finding something gluten free that I don't usually get to eat. Yesterday I had been at work all day, it takes me two hours to get there by bus and I have to walk a mile and a half from the bus stop to the Costco where I am working right now. By the end of the day I am exhausted and I don't want to do anything but get in sweats and lounge! I know the exciting life of a 20 year old. Well I was coming home thinking about what I could make for dinner that would be quick and easy when I get a call from Chelsea, the best friend anyone could ask for, saying that she is ordering us gluten free pizza from this place we have seen for months. We had not gotten a chance to eat there yet and Chelsea wanted to make sure I got to eat pizza before we left. They delivered our BBQ chicken pizza and I was at the door before they even rang. I can't even tell you how good it tasted. I was never a huge pizza fan before I started eating gluten free but once I couldnt have it there are times when it sounds so good. Chelsea always gets just as excited, if not more excited than me when I get to eat something good, she happily enjoyed the gluten free pizza with me. True friendship. Thanks Chels chels! You made my day so much better!

Port Townsend on a Ferry

Yesterday we boarded a ferry in Edmonds and rode it across the Puget Sound over to Kingston. It was so pretty, the sound is gorgeous and it was a perfectly sunny hot day. The ride was pretty short, just enough time to enjoy the scenery and go back down to the car. Once we arrived in Kingston we got off the ferry and drove for a little over an hour...we didnt think it was going to be that long...to Port Townsend. We drove through a lot of very very small towns, for those of you who have read Twilight, you feel like your in Forks. If we wanted to drive some more we would have even gotten to Port Angeles. I never thought I would see the day when I would be talking about Twilight and get all excited to see the towns they talk about in the story!! But anyway...Port Townsend was a cute little town. I was loving it until we realized that everything on the entire main street of town closed at 5:30, it was 5:45 when we arrived. We didnt get to visit all the cute little shops but we did get to walk around the marina and go out onto one of the docks when the sun was starting to go down. We ate at a little restaurant, there werent many options but this one looked promising. Well....about 45 minutes of sitting there we had no water, our food had not come out yet and no one had checked on us. On top of being starving we were getting very very impatient and this did not make for much dinner conversation as everyone was just grumpy and unhappy with our service. Finally after an hour, just before we were about to leave the restaurant and head to McDonalds our food finally came. It was okay, not the best but not terrible. Not as satisfying as we pictured our meal in the cute town. As we headed back to catch our ferry I enjoyed the scenic ride through the farms, fields full of cows and huge pine trees. The sun was going down and it was so pretty. Maybe not the trip we thought it would be but I am still very glad that we went. I loved it, the ferry, the drive, seeing the little port city. Its all part of the experience we had to get while we were still here in Seattle.

All good things come to an end

I have fallen in love with Seattle and if you would have asked me a week ago if I wanted to go home early, I would have said not a chance. But some things have come up recently that is cutting our Seattle summer short....tear. We have not been in a rush to get every experience Seattle has to offer because we had time, but now we are on a time crunch to fit everything we wanted into our remaining time here. First thing on our long list of things to do before going home was Pike's Place Market, it has been one of our favorite places and I love going there. It was a very hot day for Seattle, people didnt even know what to do with themselves because it never gets this hot. But it was a perfect day for us to walk around downtown and just be outside. With a big cup of rainier cherries it couldnt have been better.

Ok so its a very bad picture of me, some guy was laughing at us as we took the picture and it made me laugh but I had to show the two gluten free cookies that I got in the market. That is one thing I will miss so bad. I can have treats, anywhere! There are so many options and almost every bakery has gluten free items too. I got a peanut butter and a chocolate chip cookie, they were delicious!

Jordan has been on a cruise this past week and so it has just been me and Chelsea around here. We have been working most days but when we do have off we don't even know what to do with ourselves. We don't know many people in Seattle and we end up being together 24/7 with no money and nothing to do. Waiting that first paycheck is never fun but this is taking forever! We have been trying to find free things to do around here, we have basically done all of them. This past week we tried out the arboretum, it was pretty, one problem...it was huge and we didn't pay any attention to where we were going. We got lost, for a decent amount of time. Both of us were getting very impatient and even though its not like we were lost deep in the woods, we were seriously lost. There was no one around and we just wondered around having no idea what to do. After finally making it to the car we decided never to return to the arboretum again!

On the 4th of July, we attended a pancake breakfast for our stake, we were expecting a single adult breakfast so we could possibly meet more people, mingle a little, when we got there it was the entire stake. Basically a hundred couples with small children and about three people our age. So much for mingling....the rest of the day consisted of me and Chelsea making a picnic and taking it to a park to watch fireworks shot off from the middle of Lake Union. We were surrounded by huge parties and we felt a little ashamed only having two people at our "party". But the fireworks were awesome, shot off from a barge in the middle of the lake, from our spot we could see the other firework shows from across town as well. It was a good day, spending time with my close friend, and enjoying our freedom isn't half bad.

Things are looking up

So we finally got jobs! It seems like it took forever, but really we were job searching for just under 3 weeks. I am working for this company called Mika Rose, its a modest clothing company that is based out of Provo and is just starting to sell in Seattle. I will be a sales rep for the road shows they will be doing to promote the clothing. I am so excited, it works out perfect because its only for the summer, it doesn't require a lot of training since I have already done so much retail and I get free clothes to wear to work. I was starting to get a little worried but its all coming together now. Chelsea also got a job working for a nice restaurant as a hostess. We both got full schedules right away and so we had to have some fun today since it was our last free day together, at least for a while. We went to Alki beach, just outside of downtown Seattle. There is a long board walk where everyone rides their bikes, a beach and a really cute strip with little shops. It was really cold but people were acting like it was a nice sunny day, playing volleyball, paddle boarding and playing in the sand. Me and Chels were freezing just walking in and out of stores. It was cool to experience a totally different kind of beach and see such a cool view of the city. I love it here more and more everyday and now I love it even more that I have a job!
